Project Based Learning

I was chosen for the PBL group (Project Based Learning) on Thursday. I was chosen because I am a Self Directed learner and I can manage my time and get things done to a high standard. In PBL we have to work on a project for the rest of the term that helps our school community, and eventually build it. 

I am in a group with Mako and Anroux, our group name is RAM and we are building bird feeders and birdhouses. We are doing this because we have seen some hungry birds who want some food and somewhere to perch for the night. We have come up with a plan to build multiple birdhouses and feeders and place them around the school.  

Huia Workshop

Hello, in this blog I am going to tell you about the Huia workshop I am in and the presentation I did on Colin Albert Murdoch. Huia is a reading workshop were we met only once a week for our work we have to complete before the end of the week. Last week we were finding out the difference between invention and innovation. Innovation is an upgrade of an original invention. Invention is an original idea no one has come up with before.

Firstly I went to the workshop and had to pick a inventor from a news article I had read. I chose Colin Murdoch whose most famous invention was the Disposable Syringe. He also made the child-proof bottle cap, tranquilizing-dart gun and the Silent Burglar Alarm. He was also a pharmacist and a vet. First Week Back

I am going to tell you about our first day back after lockdown. We got the

announcement that we would be coming back to school and I got a little bit

excited. So on the first day back I packed my bag and headed off to school. It

didn't look different but parents weren't allowed in.

I went to class after the bell rang and went inside. The teacher told us that we

would be doing the same thing as lockdown. We got onto our work and opened

up the grid and looked at the activities on it. They were about our world and my

earth. I started right away and was going good. I started with the scavenger hunt

and the rest of my class did too. We had to go around the room looking for

answers to the questions on our sheet of paper.

There was also just Dance later in the day.  Just  Dance is an app where they play

songs and you have to follow along with the moves on the screen. After that

was Steps which is a website that helps with your spelling and writing. Along

with that is e-ako is a New Zealand place where you can learn all types of math.

We finished the day with a game then we went home.

Over all it actually was a fun first day back at school

Writing Group

Hi, Robbie here. Yesterday my writing group did a workshop about sentence starters. We did this so we could get better at starting sentences in a better way. We went on to the doc, where we wrote sentence starters then checked them off.  Below are our sentences.  What do you think

Hi this week I have done kiwi kids news work. I like it because I get to do recall and thinking questions. I also get to read lots of news. My article was about the world going dark. I do kiwi kids every 3 weeks.

Reflection

Hi Robbie here again. On Monday we made reflection slides to show the cool week we had because the year 6s was at camp and I wasn't at school. I had a cut tendon .  Reflecting slides are reflected work on what I did last week   . Here it is!
